Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

This Code of Conduct ensures a safe, fair, and respectful environment for all participants, officials, and spectators in our league. By participating, all individuals agree to uphold these standards.

2. Respect & Sportsmanship

  • Treat all players, officials, and spectators with respect, on and off the field.

  • Refrain from abusive, offensive, or discriminatory language or behavior. This includes bullying or making threats.

  • Respect decisions made by umpires and league officials, even in disagreement.

  • Encourage fair play and positive reinforcement among teammates and opponents.

3. Safety & Fair Play

  • Avoid reckless or dangerous play that may cause injury.

  • Follow all league rules and guidelines for gameplay and equipment.

  • Do not engage in or encourage cheating, unsportsmanlike conduct, or rule violations.

4. Sexual Misconduct & Harassment

  • The league is committed to creating a culture of respect and safety, where all participants feel comfortable and valued.

  • Unwanted physical contact, suggestive comments, or any form of sexual intimidation are unacceptable and will be subject to league review and possible disciplinary action.

  • Reports of misconduct will be taken seriously.

  • Responses to misconduct will be determined based on the severity of the situation, the impact on those involved, and any patterns of behavior.

  • Actions taken may include verbal warnings, mediation, probation, temporary suspensions, or permanent removal from the league. Education and open discussion will be prioritized to establish and reinforce community norms.

5. Reporting & Handling Sexual Misconduct Allegations

  • The league will conduct a prompt, impartial, and thorough investigation.

  • Any incidents of sexual misconduct should be reported to whomever they trust. Regardless of who the misconduct is reported to, those receiving reports shall escalate to the commissioner(s) who will then engage the SUP (Special Umpire Player) Committee. In order for the SUP Committee to take action, a specific complaint or accusation must be made.

  • Retaliation against individuals who report misconduct is strictly prohibited.

  • If an allegation is made without specific details or an identified victim, the league will focus on preventative measures, including reinforcing conduct expectations.

6. Restorative Justice & Conflict Resolution

  • When appropriate, the league may facilitate a restorative justice process to address grievances of any nature in a constructive and fair manner unless outlined otherwise below.

  • A mediated discussion between the accused and a league representative may be offered to address concerns, promote understanding, and prevent future harm.

  • Participation in restorative discussions is voluntary and intended to provide a pathway for resolution without assuming guilt or assigning blame.

  • Restorative agreements may include behavior commitments, league-wide education, suspension, expulsion, or other measures to ensure a safe and respectful environment.

7.  Social Media & Public Representation

  • Avoid negative or inflammatory comments about the league, teams, or individuals on social media.

  • Represent the league positively in public and online spaces.

  • By participating in this league, all individuals acknowledge and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct to maintain a positive and enjoyable environment for all.
